Blanc Mariner is a fresh and intense wine, inspired by the character of the majestic Mediterranean Sea. It evokes the beauty of the sea bathed in sunlight, the stillness of its waters, a horizon dotted with sailing boats, a sense of expectation as fishermen come to shore, ...
Penedès is a region of contrasts with outstanding natural features; the sea, vineyards and mountains. Ample sunshine and the Mediterranean Sea make Penedès a privileged land to grow vines.
The appellation of origin -D.O. Penedès- covers a large area of land that lies between the sea and mountains, and midway between the cities of Barcelona and Tarragona. Mountain ranges such as the Litoral, Prelitoral and the Montserrat massif, among others, along with the geological depressions such as Penedès, Canyelles and Foix, provide a great diversity of soils.
The climate is generally Mediterranean, which is mild and warm, and the soil is mostly limestone clay.
85% Xarel·lo - 15% Chardonnay
Xarel·lo is the main grape used to make Blanc Mariner and is a standard variety in the D.O. Penedès. It blends with a small percentage of Chardonnay. It is a pale-yellow wine with bright green-tinged reflections. On the nose, it is intense with distinct aromas of white fruit - apple and pear – as well as floral notes with spicy undertones. In the mouth it is soft, aromatic and sweet, with a lively acidity and a persistent finish.
Harvest is carried out at the optimum time of ripening for each of the varieties. Once the grapes enter the cellar, they undergo a short cold maceration to extract their maximum aromatic potential, and this process is followed by static drainage.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures to maximize varietal aromas.
Blending takes place once fermentation is complete.
This wine pairs very well with blue cheese, seafood, seafood rice dishes and grilled fish.
